Pilot Spray Dryers: PSD-5 and PSD-10
Two standard pilot-scale spray dryers for turning solutions, suspensions and emulsions into powder — 5 kg/h and 10 kg/h of water evaporation, both built with a fully welded, mirror-polished chamber so the powder comes out clean. Pick the size, and we ship a defined specification rather than a one-off design.
Standard Pilot Models
A pilot dryer with a defined specification
Both models are co-current, open-cycle, electrically heated spray dryers with a PLC and touchscreen. Feed is metered by a peristaltic pump, the chamber walls are SUS304, and the product is collected in cyclone separators.
Bring your material to our testing lab and we will prove the process on real feed — then you choose between the two sizes with the numbers in front of you.
Design
Built for clean powder
No black specks in the powder
A smooth, seamless interior leaves nowhere for material to stick, scorch and break off as dark specks in the finished powder.
Fully welded, polished inner wall
The chamber interior is fully welded and polished with no joints, so there are no gaps to trap residue and cleaning is quicker.
Radiused interior transitions
Transitions inside the chamber are rounded rather than sharp, so powder slides out instead of building up in corners.
Tight sealing
High sealing integrity across the chamber, doors and ducting keeps the drying air path controlled and the powder uncontaminated.
Refined finish
Brushed stainless exterior, neat ductwork and a consistent build quality — a unit that looks right in a lab or pilot plant.
Centrifugal or pneumatic atomizing
The PSD-5 takes a dual-purpose atomizer that runs in centrifugal or pneumatic (air-flow) mode, so one machine covers different feeds.

Choosing between them
What changes from PSD-5 to PSD-10
Capacity
PSD-10 evaporates twice as much water per hour (10 kg/h against 5 kg/h); the chamber grows from 1.0 m to 1.5 m in diameter and from 2.0 m to 2.5 m in height.
Collection
PSD-5 collects through one cyclone. PSD-10 adds a second cyclone stage, with the second-stage valve and collecting can in SUS316L, for finer collection.
Airflow control
PSD-5 runs on an induced-draft fan alone. PSD-10 adds a 0.75 kW supply fan and puts both fans on variable-frequency drives for more flexible airflow adjustment.
Air filtration
PSD-5 uses a primary filter; PSD-10 uses primary plus medium-efficiency filtration for cleaner inlet air.
Insulation
PSD-10 doubles the chamber insulation to 100 mm and raises duct insulation to 75 mm, which cuts heat loss and energy use.
Chamber finish
PSD-10 specifies welds mirror-polished to Ra ≤ 0.4 μm, a higher hygiene standard than the PSD-5 mirror-plate finish.
Atomizer
PSD-5 has a dual-purpose centrifugal / pneumatic atomizer. PSD-10 has a dedicated electric centrifugal atomizer at 18,000 r.p.m. with water cooling and frequency control.
Power
PSD-5 draws about 2.75 kW drive plus 18 kW heating (around 20.75 kW); PSD-10 about 6 kW drive plus 27 kW heating (around 33 kW).
Beyond pilot scale
The LPG centrifugal series continues well past pilot size, with larger models for production evaporation rates. Once your process is proven here, the same atomizing principle carries over.
