This carrier-based approach suits high-excipient formulations and heat-sensitive main ingredients.

Excipient or carrier powder forms the fluidized bed itself, acting as seed particles that the sprayed liquid material builds onto.
The main material, in liquid form and typically a smaller proportion of the batch, is sprayed onto the fluidized carrier bed rather than fed as a bulk powder.
Sprayed liquid merges with carrier particles at the bed's edge, distributing the main material across the granule population.
